A mainframe emulator for your PC or Mac or...
Hercules is an open source, free software project. Originated by Roger Bowler and now managed by Jay Maynard, this provides S/370, S/390 and z/Architecture on various other hardware platforms like the PC and the Mac. Several public domain operating systems have been made to run by hobbyists, and made available at no charge. The discussion boards are lively; unfortunately, as they are hosted by Yahoo!, registration is required. Get Hercules at
http://www.conmicro.cx/hercules.
Free operating systems can be downloaded from the CBT site at
http://www.cbttape.org/.
For 5 USD you can get Sam to create you a CD with the MVS Turnkey system put together by Volker Bandke or the OS/360 MVT Turnkey put together by Jay Maynard. Thanks for all the work, guys. BTW, Sam trusts us to pay when we get the CDs.
Fish, one of the volunteers, has created a GUI for running MVS under Windows. Get it at

Jay Moseley's Site at

has a lot of good info on Hercules, as well as a lot of solid information on other computing topics.
